A single dental implant for a single missing tooth is now considered the gold standard for replacing a tooth. The process is a routine procedure nowadays and, unlike bridgework, does not involve altering the shape of your adjacent teeth to attach to.
If you have lost multiple teeth, you may be wearing partial denture. This can be a real burden, as they often do not fit well and can cause embarrassment and discomfort.
It is possible to place several implants to replace multiple missing teeth so there is no longer a need for the denture. For larger areas of missing teeth, implants can be linked together with a fixed bridge, again enabling you to dispose of the denture.
Missing all your teeth? If you're wearing a full denture then chewing and biting food may be difficult. Dental implants can stabilise your denture and stop it moving when you eat.
It’s possible that, by inserting 2 – 4 implants, your loose full denture can be attached to a firm fixture and thus stabilised so it no longer moves or drops.
