Cosmetic dentistry

If you're looking for a cosmetic dental practice that provides pain-free, affordable and quick treatments, then we can provide the solution.

At Royal House Dental Centre we'll focus on enhancing the appearance of your smile and your consultation will always begin with an informal discussion about your unique smile goals. We take photos and identify the features you would like to improve and discuss bespoke treatment options - helping you to achieve the look you desire.

In some cases, we can provide you with template smile simulation that will give you an idea of how you will look once treatment is complete. Cosmetic treatments needn’t cost the earth and the results are often life-changing. If you are interested, please contact the reception team who will be happy to help you arrange an appointment.

Teeth whitening

Do you have stained or discoloured teeth that make you selfconscious about smiling? Tooth whitening is a simple way to enhance the appearance of your smile.

Most people's teeth discolour with age and certain foods and drinks, smoking and some medications can cause staining. Whitening is a safe process that will lighten the colour of your teeth by using a dental bleaching agent in the form of a gel.

We custom-make lightweight plastic trays for you that fit snugly over your teeth. You then place whitening gel inside the trays and either wear them at night, or for a few hours during the day depending on your preference. Results are normally seen over 1-2 weeks.

The results vary from person to person and your dentist will be able to give you an idea of the likely results during your consultation. After your course of treatment is complete, the results are likely to last between 12-24 months. As long as you keep the trays safe, you can 'top up' the effects by buying the gel and using it for 2-3 days to refresh the colour.

Some patients are not suitable for tooth whitening and your dentist will assess your suitability during your consultation.

Gaps, chips, or worn teeth

This is a simple and minimally invasive way to improve the aesthetics of your smile if you have any small gaps, chips or worn teeth.

By 'bonding' tooth-coloured composite material to your existing teeth the shape, size and profile of your teeth can be positively transformed. It is usually a pain-free procedure as in most cases the teeth themselves do not need to be drilled in order to bond the material.

You can even have a full smile makeover with bonded composite veneers. They are unlikely to last as long as porcelain veneers before they have to be replaced but are less destructive to your existing teeth. They are often used as a transition technique before the placement of porcelain veneers.

White fillings

One option to improve the appearance of your smile is to have your old, metal fillings replaced with tooth-coloured composite or 'white' fillings.

This is a safe procedure in which the metal filling in the tooth is removed, including any decay detected and a tooth-coloured filling is placed instead. This will allow you to smile without a metallic glint in sight, giving your teeth a more natural overall appearance.

We believe prevention is better than cure and will always encourage and guide you in looking after your teeth to prevent decay in the first place. If however, you do require a filling then we like to recommend toothcoloured fillings as a solution that is both aesthetic and functional.

Porcelain veneers

If your teeth are badly stained, crooked, chipped or heavily worn then porcelain veneers may be a treatment option worth considering. They mimic the appearance of natural teeth and the overall cosmetic improvement can be astounding.

A veneer is a very thin, tooth-coloured piece of porcelain (like a false finger nail) that is 'bonded' to the face of your own tooth. Based on your needs, we can adjust the shape of your veneers to make your teeth look longer or closer together or better aligned. You can have any number of veneers from just one to hide a single discoloured tooth or a whole set, known as a smile makeover.

We would normally recommend orthodontic treatment as the ideal treatment for crooked teeth but if you do not want to wear braces, veneers may be an option for you.

Porcelain veneers can last between 10-15 years at which point they will need to be replaced. Whilst veneers are strongly bonded onto the tooth, there are situations in which they will come off. It is important that you keep the veneer so that your dentist can re-bond it

6 Month Smiles

Do you want straighter teeth but are put off by metal braces which may have to be on your teeth for 2 years or more?

Many adult patients wish for straighter teeth but are put off by the thought of traditional braces.

Think orthodontics and the first thing that springs to mind is often train-track style metal braces which, as well as being very noticeable, also have a reputation for having a long treatment time – up to two years in some cases.

Orthodontic techniques have seen huge advances in recent years, and there are now fast, effective and affordable alternatives to traditional braces available in many cases.

At Royal House Dental Centre we offer an innovative orthodontic solution called Six Month Smiles, which is suitable for correcting a range of aesthetic concerns for adult patients.

Six Month Smiles uses tooth-coloured wires and brackets so that they are very discreet compared to the traditional silver metal. The technique concentrates on correcting the front teeth rather than the whole bite so you really see the difference and treatment time is hugely reduced.

As the name suggests, the average treatment time with Six Month Smiles is just six months, although this will vary from patient to patient and depend on the exact amount of movement required. Most patients complete treatment in four to nine months.

Six Month Smiles can effectively treat a variety of problems, including crooked, crowded and gappy teeth, as well as misaligned bites.

If you think that Six Month Smiles may help you to achieve the straighter teeth you've always wanted for a smile you want to show off, contact the practice today to book an initial consultation.
